Kasbah Toubkal
Owner: Mike McHugo/Discovery Ltd
Manager: Omar Maurice
History: Began
in 1982, open in it's current state since 1995. Built by Caid Said
SOUKTANI in the 40's, part of the Glaoui 'empire'. Fell into disrepair
after he was ousted post the French withdrawal in '56. It was used as storage by local population for straw and animals for many years. In
1994 it was bought by Mike, and slowly restored and converted. Initially
it was used for school groups, however, it has now become the default
deluxe option for Imlil, with many tourists being bussed up from luxury
hotels in Marrakech for a 'Berber' experience.
